TREATMENTS

People tend not to appreciate the value of good health until its lost.

Your first visit will involve an in depth consultation, during which details of your main complaint and your medical history are noted, this will include chiropractic, orthopaedic and neurological tests to uncover the cause of your problem. Once your diagnosis has been explained, Paul will advise a plan of treatment that is tailored to meet your needs and not just your symptoms. People at the clinic generally receive one of two types of care: 1) Symptomatic/pain relief care or
2) Maintenance/Preventative care, this is explained at your consultation.

Paul uses a variety of techniques to suit the clinical situation, this will involve any combination of:

ADJUSTMENTS
The aim of Chiropractic adjustments is to restore movement to joints, these adjustments are generally done by hand, are usually not painful and can sometimes produce a “click” or “pop”. Adjustments can be applied to the spine and extremity joints, which include the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee ankle and foot.

MYOFASCIAL TECHNIQUES
Release of taught muscles through deep
tissue massage and active and passive
release techniques.

Specific techniques are used for babies, young children, pregnant women and elderly patients.

HEALTH & LIFESTYLE ADVICE
Where appropriate you will receive specific health and lifestyle advice. This can include; home stretches, core stability exercises,
nutrition and postural advice.

DR PAUL KOBAYASHI

My name is Paul Kobayashi and I am focused on providing high quality chiropractic healthcare to the local community in Blandford and across Dorset. As an enthusiastic and passionate Chiropractor, I am a firm believer that Chiropractic care is suitable for all ages. I, my wife Cathryn, daughter Ella and son Alex, have regular, monthly, chiropractic health checks.

I have a very keen interest in most sports and sports related injuries. In my youth rugby was my main passion having played locally for the school (Queen Elizabeth’s), club (Wimborne), and county; Dorset and Wiltshire at colts and U21 level. It was at this time that I first encountered the health benefits of Chiropractic, through regular adjustments.

Before setting up practice in Blandford in 2010, I consulted at private practices in Melrose (Scotland), Ascot (Buckinghamshire) and Bournemouth (Dorset).
I am registered with the General Chiropractic Council and a member of the British Chiropractic Association. I graduated from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth, gaining a Masters degree in Chiropractic (MChiro).

WHAT IS CHIROPRACTIC?

The word Chiropractic combines the greek word chiro (meaning hands) and praxis (meaning practice) to describe a treatment done by hand, this is central to chiropractic care.

Chiropractors are trained to diagnose, treat, manage and prevent disorders of the neuro musculoskeletal system (nerves, bones, joints and muscles), as well as the effects these disorders can have on the nervous sytem and general health. Chiropractors use a range of techniques to reduce pain, improve function and increase mobility.

Chiropractic care is a way of keeping healthy and being at your best, this applies for patients of all ages, who present with a range of acute and chronic conditions. As well as advice about self-help, exercise, diet and lifestyle, chiropractors can provide support for pain management, sports injuries and active rehabilitation.

Chiropractic is a regulated primary healthcare profession.

A Medical Research Council clinical trial and its follow-up, reported in the British Medical Journal in 1990 and 1995, found that chiropractic treatment of back pain was more effective than hospital outpatient treatment. The European Commission Acute Low Back Pain Guidelines includes manipulation as an effective treatment for
low back pain.

TESTIMONIALS

“Paul has treated me for the past 5 years taking a completely different and more holistic approach than I have previously received. The care and interest that Paul has taken in my treatment has produced results which have improved the quality of my life and this has all been done in a very friendly and relaxed manner. I am now maintaining a relatively pain free existence and see Paul for fine tuning to keep any aches
to a minimum.”

Tracey Finlay

“Being a professional equestrian rider it is very important to me to keep my body fit and in shape. Chiropractic treatment is key in helping me achieve this. I was recommended by a friend to see Paul for some treatment to help with a couple of issues I was having at the time. After the first treatment I noticed a difference and was very pleased with how the session went. Since my first session with Paul I have been back several times and have noticed a huge improvement to how I sit in the saddle and how my horses are going! Thanks to Paul my body feels a lot better and I can now move freer and be without the pain and soreness I was experiencing before I met Paul.”

Russell Carter

“I have been pleasantly surprised how Paul’s treatments have not only greatly improved the tension in my shoulders, neck and face but also improved my posture and general well-being. I now see Paul for regular monthly checks to maintain this. Treatments are carried out in comfortable, homely and friendly surroundings and following a thorough consultation and explanation. Having been a client of Paul’s now for over 2 years I would have no hesitation in recommending
his practice.”

Paula Burt

“I have visiting Paul for some time, firstly with a chronic back & shoulder issue which he has been able to isolate and relive. His continued regular attention to this age old injury and associated symptoms has greatly improved a problem plaguing me in both a work and family life. Paul listens and responds to my alignment’s and is able to articulate his findings, recommendation and treatments. Whole heartedly recommended.”
